Special Event: Youk’s Scoops of Kindness
Sept. 20, 2025 | 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Golden Gateway
Plan to join us for “Youk’s Scoops of Kindness,” an event that will kick off and celebrate Dan Clouser’s long-distance hike to raise both funds and awareness for DVGRR.
Dan’s “Youk’s Legacy Walk for Charity” will honor DVGRR alum and best-selling author, Youkilis, the Golden Retriever. Dan will be hiking portions of the Horseshoe Trail and the East Coast Greenway Trail from DVGRR to Wickham Park in Melbourne, Florida to raise money for DVGRR.
On Sept. 20th, we’ll celebrate Dan’s effort along with hearing from him about his inspiration for the hike and how Youk’s life has impacted so many others over the years. We’ll also air a video version of his book, Four Paws and Six Wheels Across America. Attendees will also be able to participate in Dan’s journey, walking the first mile of his 1,300-mile trek by walking two loops around the DVGRR campus, with or without your own pup*.
This celebration will also include the sounds of local keyboard player, Gerry Werner, games, raffles, and the opportunity to shop at DVGRR’s Pap’s Place.
This event is open to the public and dog/people-friendly dogs*. Tickets are $25.00 and include hamburger or hot dog, bagged snack, soda/water, and ice cream. Frosty Paws will be available for dogs in attendance.
We’re also looking for sponsors to help offset the cost of food and ice cream.

*Dogs in attendance must be up-to-date on shots and must remain on lead (no longer than 6’ and no flexi-leashes). Only one dog per handler.
