Our Focus on Rescue

Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue provides new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers, and other golden-hearted dogs, along with a full array of adoptive and educational support for the adopters and broader community.

Since 1993, Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue has successfully placed thousands of Golden Retrievers and other DVGRR dogs into new homes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and beyond. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization relying on donations, our supporters, fundraising, and the proceeds of our events and on-site retail store, Pap’s Place, for funding.

DVGRR has been recognized for our innovative work in rescuing and rehabilitating puppy mill breeder dogs. The Project Home Life program, implemented in 2009, works with puppy mill survivors to help them transition successfully from the horrors of life in a puppy mill to a normal home life with a loving family.

8/4/2025

MILTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Milton man on Thursday after an extensive animal neglect investigation. Matthew Martone, 52, was charged with 55 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, a class A misdemeanor.
 
DVGRR accepted 6 of the adult Golden Retrievers, 4 male and 2 female. This is a very sad case. We wish we would have been able to take more of the dogs our rescue is running close to capacity right now.

7/28/2025  Follow the journey of DVGRR alumni CAM (24-153)! Cam had his pairing celebration with his new handler, Brock Bybee, at the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF), located in Santa Paula, California. This 501(c)3 organization’s mission is to strengthen disaster response in America by rescuing and recruiting dogs and partnering them with firefighters and other first responders to locate people buried alive in the wreckage of disasters. 5/14/2025 We’re thankful for all the support and coverage by our friends at WGAL News Channel 8 Susquehanna Valley in PA. From appearances on Paws and Pals with Regina Ahn (follow her on Facebook), to having their team come and volunteer at Golden Gateway, we are grateful for their support of the DVGRR dogs!
