Cody Medical Fund Recipients #5
Meet Sparky! This 4-year-old Golden was surrendered by his previous owner due to the owner’s health issues. We noticed he walked a little different when he arrived, and we discovered it’s a possible cruciate tear. He’ll be going for a consult to determine if surgery is needed. Sparky also had a recent ophthalmology appointment during which vets determined he has loss of vision and Progressive Retinal Atrophy. At this point, he has very little vision and will eventually go blind. Because of our Cody Medical Fund, we are able to provide Sparky with the extensive veterinary care he needs.

Cody Medical Fund Recipients #3 & 4

These two puppies arrived at DVGRR on the same day, needing the exact same extensive veterinary care. Both needed repair of ectopic ureters. An ectopic ureter (the tube that carries urine from kidneys to bladder) is a congenital abnormality in which it does not connect as it should, resulting in incontinence. The surgical procedure requires relocating the ureter to its normal position. In some cases, the procedure does not entirely resolve the issue of urine leakage.
While it is hereditary, these puppies (despite arriving on the same day) are not related and did not come from the same location.
The cost of each surgery for Carla and Bella: over $7,000.00 each.

Cody Medical Fund Recipient #2
Meet Bethany: Bethany is another dog that was able to receive extensive care, thanks to our Cody Medical Fund.
Like Abby, she’s another dog that needed to undergo Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgery to stabilize her knee joint by eliminating the need for the cranial cruciate ligament. She’s doing great and is rehabbing at the DVGRR Sanctuary.
The cost of Bethany’s surgery: $4,800

Cody Medical Fund Recipient #1
Meet Abby #16 who was a recipient of care provided thanks to our Cody Medical Fund. She was surrendered by her previous owner, needing Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgery. TTA is a procedure used to treat a cranial cruciate ligament rupture. It involves surgically altering the tibia to stabilize the knee joint, eliminating the need for the ligament. This is achieved by cutting and advancing the tibial tuberosity, the bony prominence on the tibia where the patellar ligament attaches.
The cost of Abby’s surgery: $4,800
